About our Tennis Program

The RSA Tennis program was launched in 2017, becoming the eighth sport in the RSA suite. Our Director of Coaching, Adrian Muscillo, is a Tennis Australia Level 3 High Performance Coach, and one of only six Talent Development Accredited Coaches in Victoria with a proven track record of transitioning players to an international status. Adrian has a very rich experience in player development, having shaped his philosophy from his time as a touring professional, and as a coach in Europe, America, Asia and Australia including for four different Federations and over 25 internationally renowned Academies.

Our tennis program has a holistic view, aimed at challenging and supporting young players who have begun or soon will begin their tournament pathway, providing them with increased court time during the school day.

Close communication is strongly encouraged with each player’s existing private coach so that specific needs are identified and shared by the coaches to support the development of each player’s technical and physical capabilities. There is also strong program emphasis on developing each player’s tactical and mental understanding, so they become students of the game, learning how to win and how to be successful in tournament play. On court sessions are taught in an open skill match realistic environment so that players are exposed to playing up, even and down in the score. We regularly include the importance of the Serve and Return of Serve components and teach players how to adapt to various opponents playing style.

Working with RSA’s on school site partner RISE Health Group, we provide access to physiotherapy, strength and conditioning and athletic development programs conducted by qualified exercise physiologists. The tennis program operates out of the recently upgraded facilities at Scoresby Tennis Centre providing access to 3 Plexicushion and 5 Clay tennis courts, which is great for specific tournament preparation. In the future we plan to provide camp opportunities with RSA students traveling as a group to tournaments and utilising this to coach through the authentic environment of competing. We currently participate in the School Sport Victoria competitions where in our short tenure we have had much tennis success and strive continually to be the best performing program in Victoria.

Sports Academy Facilities

Rowville Sports Precinct

In 2014 RSA opened the Rowville Sports Precinct; a modern facility housing three basketball courts, a state of the art fitness centre, on-site physiotherapy, an ice bath and healthy cafe. Having these elite facilities on-campus as they have allowed us to improve the quality of our training sessions and have reduced the time spent traveling off-campus.

We share the facilities with RISE Health Group who provide RSA students with physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetic and psychology services. RISE Health Group are also responsible for coordinating all strength and conditioning activities for the academy. Out of school hours, RISE Health Group use the facilities for personal training, group fitness classes and health consulting.

Scoresby Tennis Centre

The tennis program operates out of the recently upgraded facilities at Scoresby Tennis Centre providing access to 3 Plexicushion and 5 Clay tennis courts, which is great for specific tournament preparation. The Scoresby Tennis is less than 10 minutes from Rowville Secondary Collge.
